The use of dark colours combined with the melancholic denim suggests that this is quite a sombre range of clothing. Sylvester Stallone had his ups and down during the filming of Rocky, but not even a haymaker to the jaw would have brought tears to his eyes quite like the $2000 Saint Laurent Hooded Sweatshirt.

The accessories are subtly extravagant… subtle in design, extravagant in price. The bowties, priced at $245 are a bit expensive, but the shoes seem to have a certain confidence about them. The bags – upwards of $1250 – are sleek and eye catching.

Would I wear this collection? Of course! But whether the bank would approve me offsetting my mortgage just to buy clothes is another question. Despite the “Permanent Collection’s” dark nature, it is Saint Laurent and the products obviously are of a very high standard. But I don’t think I could stay true to the range and only wear it with items from the same line.

The collection is interesting; Saint Laurent on this occasion have stayed true to the brand.
