Facing the facts.. Prada 2014…
Is female fashion becoming nothing more than faces on handbags? First Dolce and Gabbana, now Prada. They’re not real faces either. Some brands advertise having real leather, but I’m looking forward to the day where the bags use real faces. After all, nothing gives off a bad first impression quite like a customised license plate, so if bags start brandishing pictures of Nicky Minaj and Kim Kardashian, at least I know which shoppers I should avoid on my Sunday window shopping session.
What these bags do offer is a low risk method of looking quirky. These bags are a little flamboyant and ‘out there,’ but they aren’t as bold as Fendi, for example. To be honest, of the bags in this editorial, the ones I like the most would be those that brandish faces on them. The other bags are great, but aren’t quite as eye-catching as the face totes.
Onto the shoes. The heels are great. Much like the bags, they have a certain amount of quirkiness, but they don’t push the boundaries too far to the extent that they are hard to match with different outfits. My opinion of the sandals is not quite as glowing as it was of the shoes, as they look as if they’ve been designed by a podiatrist, not a fashion house. Comfort is great, but find me a fashionista that let comfort get in the way of style!
