Hong Kong.. Luxury Shopping Style…
I’m in Hong Kong and have been for a month. (Me, is so happy!) So what better article to write than one about my shopping experience. Hong Kong is amazing, it is amazing on all different levels, the food, the views and of course the shopping, and it’s unique fashion style.
First question, where do I go to shop in Hong Kong? Answer: Absolutely anywhere. If there’s a subway station, chances are there will be some kind of shopping centre located near it. If there isn’t a subway station, chances are there’ll be a shopping centre nearby. If there’s just a subway where they make sandwiches, chances are you’ll be near a shopping centre (or even in one).
So, there’s plenty of places to go shopping, but where are the best places to go.
Either side of Victoria Harbour is the obvious choice for high fashion labels. In the IFC complex on Hong Kong Island (coincidently, above a subway station) you will find a true western shopping centre completely outfitted with Ralph Lauren, Chanel and of course, a Starbucks.
Cross the Harbour to Tsim Sha Tsui and you will find another great district outfitted with great shopping areas. While Nathan Road has more Chow Tai Fook jewellery stores than Kardashians have decent photos of themselves, the real shopping can be found just around the corner from the Star ferry. The Harbour City shopping complex and the outside stores are also home to some big labels including Alexander Wang, Tiffany and Co, and more inexpensive options like H&M.
My Final recommendation for those staying in Kowloon and not Hong Kong Island, would be festival walk. Kitted out with a movie theatre complex and an indoor ice rink, this is yet another shopping centre that is packed with big name brands.
Hong Kong is the city to go to for all your shopping needs, and if all you do is shop, it’s worth every penny.
